Uganda Mission 2021 (During COVID)
Lake Victoria Islands

One of the greatest blessings of this trip was visiting four islands in Lake Victoria. As we worshiped with local congregations, we heard incredible testimonies of God's faithfulness made possible through your generosity.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Uganda experienced months of complete lockdown. Boats carrying food and supplies were prohibited from traveling to the islands, and many families faced severe starvation. Because of faithful partners like you, several tons of food were transported by private boat and distributed to those in greatest need.
We were deeply moved as believers shared how many people came to faith in Christ during this difficult season. In their desperation and hunger, they cried out to God, and He answered by sending His people with food, hope, and the message of the Gospel. Thank you for being part of God's provision.
Pastors' Empowerment Conference

We also had the privilege of participating in the launch of a new income and food producing initiative. Together, we helped build the first rabbit hutch for a program designed to teach families on the islands a dependable, low maintenance source of both food and income.
Fishing has traditionally been the primary source of income in this region. However, flooding and overfishing by commercial companies have greatly reduced the islanders' ability to provide for their families.
Through this new program, men and women are learning how to raise, breed, and sell rabbits for meat while also utilizing the byproducts as additional sources of income. They are also receiving training in financial stewardship and small business management. This sustainable program has the potential to transform families and provide lasting hope for many island communities.
We International Women's Rescue Home

While in Jinja, we visited the We International Women's Rescue Home, where young women rescued from prostitution are being given a new beginning.
Many of these girls, some as young as 13 years old, have experienced unimaginable physical, emotional, and spiritual trauma. Today, they are discovering that their identity is found in Christ. Along with daily Bible study, they are learning practical skills such as soap making, sewing, and hairstyling.
The ministry's vision is to one day open a hair salon where these women can continue developing their skills, learn to operate a business, and earn a sustainable income as they rebuild their lives.
Hearing their testimonies was incredibly moving. Several young women shared that they now dream of becoming Bible teachers and preachers so they can help others find the same hope they have found in Jesus Christ.
Saint Ursula's Special School

While in Musima, we visited Saint Ursula's Special School, where we have developed a wonderful friendship with the sisters over the past several years. Their kindness and hospitality have always been a blessing to our team.
On this visit, Sister Lucy gave us a tour of the campus and introduced us to the students and staff. The school serves children with special needs, providing education in reading, writing, mathematics, personal hygiene, and vocational skills such as sewing and knitting.
Sadly, many children with disabilities in Uganda are often neglected, abused, or viewed as having little value because they cannot function in traditional society. Saint Ursula's is changing that narrative. Every child is treated with dignity and taught that they are deeply loved by both God and His people.
It was eye opening to hear about the many challenges the school, staff, and students faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet their faith remains unwavering. We left encouraged by their perseverance and confident that, through Christ, they will continue to overcome every obstacle.
Thank you!

Thank you for praying, giving, and partnering with Marathon Missions. Your support is changing lives, strengthening churches, and bringing the hope of Jesus Christ to people across Uganda.
